Our basketball club is blessed to have a deep bench of COACHES, which includes a long list of current high school coaches, middle school coaches, and several former college players.

We have retained and/or hired “TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHES” for the 2023 Spring Travel Team Season – Leaders that are intentional in their efforts to impact athletes both ON and OFF the court!
We truly have a “MORE THAN” vibe as a club; this culture flows through our coaching staff as we strive to be a “community of difference-makers” (like-minded leaders who love Christ, kids, and basketball).

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Love the game and teaching kids how to compete. Most importantly love teaching the life skills through basketball these kids will hopefully take with them long after their playing days are over.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball: I really enjoy helping young players build skill as well as confidence in that skill and then adding the knowledge of how to use it. My measure of success is whether or not the players I coach want to keep playing.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball: The game of basketball teaches so many valuable life lessons. Student athletes can learn how to set goals, challenge themselves to achieve more than they ever thought possible, overcome adversity, the value and benefits of teamwork, and so much more. The process of teaching and helping each player go from where they are to where they can be is such a rewarding experience. Basketball has taught me so many life lessons that I enjoy passing on to my players. Many of my best friendships were created through basketball and those connections remain strong even to this day. It is just a wonderful vehicle to help young people succeed in life.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball?
I choose youth basketball because of my passion for teaching and making a positive impact on the youth. I feel that the game of basketball can teach students the game of life and how to set/reach goals. Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I love being around the game of basketball and the mission of Stars to share and show the gospel of Jesus. I believe through Stars I am able to help build a strong foundation of hoops and Christ and hopefully be a good example of how Christianity and sports can be brought together.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Helping others to reach their fullest potential, whether that’s in their financial lives, on the golf course, or on the basketball court is a foundational value in my life. Sharing the blessings and gifts that God has given me with those around me drives me to continuously learn and try to grow each day in my abilities as a coach. I have chosen to be a STARS coach (as well as allow my son Ryan to be a part of the STARS program as a player) because of the blend of values and competence I’ve found in the STARS Basketball Club.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Basketball provides me the opportunity to teach young people character and life lessons while also teaching the game. I enjoy how the STARS basketball club provides an opportunity to share Christ and challenge players to be better athletes, teammates, and Christian role models in their environment.

Personal Fact: I coached and taught in area schools for eight years before opening a counseling practice. Now I counsel during the day and coach in the evenings and on weekends.
Why do you coach youth basketball? I love God, kids, and the game of basketball. STARS brings all three together. Over the course of my life, basketball has been a great source of joy. It has created opportunities to build my character and make lasting friendships. Coaching with STARS allows me to pass on the many blessings this game has given me. Even more, STARS offers the chance to share the love, grace, and delight of Christ in the lives of kids.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I know that I will not change the world by coaching. Jesus will do that. I can, however, plant a seed and live out The Kingdom of God. So if, one player, sees the love of Christ in me, it is worth every minute of my time spent.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I love being able to develop lifelong relationships with young athletes and having the ability to assist them in becoming better equipped to grow into great husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers for their future families.

Basketball Experience: Played at Eastern Illinois University on a full Division I Scholarship (1994-1998). Ranked 10th all time at E.I.U. in single season scoring, 6th in career steals, 13th all time in career scoring and 10th all time in career 3 pointers made. First team Ohio Valley Conference senior year, averaging 21.1 points per game (22nd in the nation). Ranked in the top 20 all time E.I.U. athletes in the OVC era. Played 3 years professionally in Spain, Italy, Belgium, France and the Dominican Republic. Coached 3 years for East Williamson Athletics Association, 2 years at the Brentwood Summer league and 4 years currently with STARS.

Coaching provides me the opportunity to prepare young athletes for success on the court as high-level basketball players and off the court as successful leaders in our community. As a coach, you have the ability to deliver impactful life lessons through servant leadership. I am truly passionate to pass on my knowledge and experience to the next generation of athletes.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Young kids are the future of our world. My goal is to help instill discipline, confidence, humility, servanthood and passion through basketball. Creating lifelong relationships through sport is something I’m extremely passionate about and I’m grateful for the opportunity to coach and to make a difference in young people’s lives.

Basketball Experience: I’ve played basketball since I was a little girl! I played middle and high school basketball at Lipscomb Academy and then continuing playing basketball at Lipscomb University! After I graduated, I coached the 6th grade girls basketball team at LA.
Personal Fact: I am just moving back to Nashville from Texas! I have lived in Nashville my whole life but this last year my family has been in a Texas for my husband’s job, but we are so excited to be back in Nashville. We have one daughter, Camryn, who is about to be one year old.
Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? : I love coaching, but I especially love youth coaching because you get to teach and connect in more ways than basketball. Basketball is more than than just skills and wins and losses. You build character and learn lessons along the way and I love that being a coach brings those opportunities.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Basketball is a game that I love but more important than that it is a game that has the ability to teach many life lessons. We are called to make an impact on others and coaching is a great avenue to do so, especially when it comes to building confidence in somebody both on and off the court. The relationships you build is also something that is very special. Thankful to be able to coach this game, and thankful for the opportunity to make an impact.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I love the opportunity to mentor these young women on and off the court. I’m blessed with the opportunity each day to help build confidence within each and every athlete I get to coach. I love the opportunity to help each individual find what drives them and pushes them to be the best version of themselves not only on the court, but in their daily lives. Being able to Coach and be a part of these young ladies lives is a privilege and one that I’m thankful for each and every day.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? Coaching students in life and sports is a great passion of mine. I love to see the growth of the individual and the team as the season progresses. The relationships made throughout my time in coaching is what I cherish the most. I love and live by the STARS motto – More Than Basketball. For me, coaching is about more than the game – it’s about the individual.
Favorite Bible Verse: John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Basketball Experience: Playing: Hillwood High School, Nashville, TN (1994-1998). First Team All-Metro (1998), 11-AAA All-District Team (1998). Averaged 17 points/game. Scored 1,000 career points, including a career-high game with 29 points and the game winning 3-pointer! Coaching: I’ve coached boys and girls basketball in various recreational programs (2012-2019). Personal Fact: Bachelors Business Administration (MTSU 2003). Currently the Chief People Officer for a local healthcare technology company in Franklin, TN. Hold both a PHR and SHRM-CP. Named HR Professional of the Year by Middle Tennessee SHRM (2015). Married to Brian for 17 years and have two children (Madison and Blake).
Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I want to share my gift with student-athletes; it’s my calling to serve. I have a deep passion for sharing my love for the game through coaching and instilling values (work hard, have a good attitude, be a good teammate and be intentional) that translate on and off the court.

Basketball Experience: played basketball at BHS for first State Tournament appearance and upset vs Blackman. Studied Kinesiology at Belmont University and worked with Belmont’s WBB team as practice player. I’ve been a Coach and referee for many youth basketball games throughout college and beyond.
Personal Fact: My favorite basketball shoes are the Kyrie 4’s.
Why do I choose to coach youth basketball? My freshman year basketball coach taught me more about life from coaching basketball than any youth pastor ever did. Instilling confidence, being a good teammate, and learning how to push yourself are valuable lessons that I learned from my coaches growing up and I wish to pass those lessons on.

It’s simple… to give back in all aspects of basketball and life! I believe in our kids, I love our kids, and I want to do my part to help them succeed and strive to become the best person they can be.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I absolutely love the sport of basketball, and love to influence and help others. Growing up I had many coaches who impacted my life in so many ways and I hope to be able to have that same type of impact. There is nothing greater than watching kids grow and mature into better basketball players and better people.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? When I first started playing the game of basketball, my coaches helped me develop a love for it. I still remember each coach and their style. I hope to do the same for my team this year. Watching players improve their interest and skill in the game of basketball is what I love most.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I believe sports, basketball especially, is a great tool to prepare kids for life. Basketball is a game of runs -ups and downs, hills and valleys, green pastures and dark patches: just like life. If we can empower kids to get through a tough segment of practice or withstand runs during games, they will be more equipped to fight through adversity in the real world. I’m also big on “letting your light shine.” I believe everyone has a unique light to them that the universe needs them to illuminate. This requires people to find their “voice” and confidence early in life. I truly believe youth sports is the best way to help kids find their “light,” especially if they have leaders who lead by FAITH and strive to lead and live in a Christ-like manner.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? To build confidence in young men and women through the game of basketball that they can carry over the life lessons into their every day lives now and in the future. Sports are a great tool for young people to learn about challenges in life. You have to work hard to have success and you have to get back up and work harder WHEN you fail. (FAIL – First Attempt In Learning). Love watching young people become leaders on the playing fields/courts and in the community because of their hard work!

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I have been very fortunate over the years to have coaches that poured into my life. I want to give back to the younger generations. I love the game of basketball, it has been very good to me over the years, so I want to share that love of the game with others. I believe sports can teach valuable life lessons that help athletes grown on and off the court, and I feel honored to be able to help guide those athletes through that process.

Basketball Experience: Playing Experience: Aquinas Junior College, (84-86); played under Nashville legendary Coach Charles Anderson. Belmont College/University (86-87); played on the first team of legendary Coach, Rick Byrd. One Season professionally in Portugal, (91-92).
Coaching Experience: Currently, I am the Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Franklin Christian Academy. Upon serving, Head Girls Basketball Coach for Franklin Christian Academy, our girls basketball team won their very first conference championship in 2019.
I have over 30 years of coaching experience and over 20 years of teaching experience in Education in public and private schools in Davidson and Williamson Counties. I’ve taught and coached at the secondary level at the following schools; St. Vincent de Paul School, Harding Academy, Grassland Middle School, Stratford Middle School, Valor Collegiate Academy, Franklin Christian Academy. I’ve also coached in various AAU/Travel Programs, throughout Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee, with the majority of my success and successful team from STARS.
Other coaching and instructional experiences include working Nike Camp, Belmont Team Camps and Instructional Basketball Camps, Vanderbilt Basketball Camp, Franklin Christian Academy Clinics, STARS Clinics and Camps, and I also conduct my own Private/Small group lessons throughout the year from 5th Grade to High School players.
Personal Fact: Graduate of Tennessee State University, B. S. in Physical Education & Health, K-12, 1999. I am a father of 6 children. Married for 9 years, wife and I met on the school bus in 1978 (long story). I am a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, I am an only child. I’ve won 2 Gold and 1 Silver Medal in my age division, in the National Senior Olympics Games 3 on 3 Basketball Event.
Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? I love to teach the game to kids and I love to watch them develop and improve on what they have learned when applying their skills in games. I love seeing the passion in kids when they are giving 100% in everything they do because they know the work they put in and the highest effort they give will end with great results and satisfaction. I also love the fact that I get the opportunity to mentor, support, and develop them off the court. Helping them learn about character, integrity, being true to themselves and the game and watching them grow from these learning experience through sports is very rewarding to me. Coaching youth basketball should always be about the kid’s total development and never about a coaches personal gain. It’s the giving back or paying it forward. That’s WWJD!

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? It’s not all about winning because losing can teach a valuable lesson as well. Teaching players the game of basketball is a plus, but helping them build a firm foundation on Jesus Christ that will take them further in life than Basketball can.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball? At a time when so many young men and women have been used to win basketball games, it is important to use the game to win the hearts of young players and to point them to Christ, the ultimate source of love. The game can be used to develop so many characteristics for these future leaders, and I find that to be why I love to coach.

Why do you choose to coach youth basketball?
I coach youth basketball for a couple reasons. 1. I love the game!! 2. These boys are at such a vulnerable age and I have a desire to be a positive and Christian impact in their lives. It is my version of giving back to the game because I remember all the coaches that had an impact in my life and I’m grateful for them. My prayer is that I can teach these boys much more than just basketball.

Basketball Experience: I earned First Team All Conference honors while playing at Alabama A&M University. This is my 11th year coaching travel basketball and my 7th with Stars.
