SOUTH HUB - Tryout Information
SOUTH HUB Tryouts for winter teams ARE NOW OPEN (3rd – 6th grade boys and girls).
Our 2025 CLUB TEAM Tryouts will begin in February (for younger grades) and continue through early March for high school athletes. Please watch for tryout registration info in January 2025.
SOUTH Hub: Tryout Fee – $44
STARS Basketball intends to form multiple winter teams (see list below) to compete in area leagues (9-10 players/team).
Gold is top team; Blue is second team; White is third team; Yellow is fourth team. The ability to form multiple teams within a grade will be based on both coach supply and # of attendees/talent level of attendees.
Practices will begin the week of November 3 for all teams.
Tryout Fee/Date /Location
$44 if registered by Tuesday, September 10; $49 if registering 9/11 or after.
Tryout dates: September 20th and 27th
Athletes are STRONGLY encouraged to attend BOTH sessions.

STARS Basketball offers financial assistance to families that are in need of “Full or Partial Athletic Scholarships.” If your athlete/family needs assistance, please complete the 2024-25 Winter Team Financial Assistance Application.
The form must be submitted prior to tryout #2 (9/27).

VARSITY Middle School Basketball Players – TMSAA Schools – VARSITY middle school basketball players, whose school is a member of the TMSAA, cannot participate in independent games (i.e. league games) once the team roster has been submitted to TMSAA. Therefore, if your 6th grade athlete will play on the VARSITY Middle School Team at a TMSAA member school, they cannot play winter basketball with STARS or any other team.
Practice Information for ALL Teams:
- All teams will begin practicing the week of November 3rd
- All teams will practice twice per week, with the exception of 6th grade teams. These teams will practice 1x / week, on Sundays or Friday evenings, due to middle school basketball demands on weekdays.
- 5th grade and younger teams: approximately 28 practices during the season
- 6th grade teams: approximately 14 practices during the season
- Teams will practice through Thursday, Feb. 20th (last games could be on Saturday, Feb. 22nd)
- Practice schedules will be posted for each team at tryout session #2 on September 27th
- Teams will NOT practice the following weeks:
- 11/24*
- 12/22*
- Games/Season Dates: 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, and *2/22 (Tournament begins on 2/15 and continues for most teams through 2/22)
*We will schedule a make-up practice for those teams that would have practiced on 12/31 and 1/1/25
**All Winter Team Players:
- Receive UA shooting shirt and UA hooded sweatshirt
- Receive coupon code to save 30% (one-time use) on a Thanksgiving or Christmas Break Camp
- $35 refund for returned jersey at end of season
